Peek-a-boo
Ditch the ordinary and make your gender reveal unforgettable. Share the big news in a fun, interactive, and modern way—wherever your loved ones are! Micro-SaaS I launched.
Why I Built This
When my wife was pregnant, we wanted to share the gender reveal with our families — but most of them are scattered all around the globe. The traditional confetti-pop-in-a-backyard kind of reveal just wasn't going to work for us. I looked for an online platform that could host a proper gender reveal experience and realized nothing like that existed. So I built one.
How It Works
Users create an account and set up a gender reveal event. From there, they can assign a trustee — someone they trust to set the actual gender behind the scenes. The event page itself features mini games to keep guests entertained while they wait, and when the moment comes, LiveKit powers a real-time streaming experience so everyone can react together no matter where they are. Stripe handles payments for premium events.
What I Learned
My biggest mistake was trying to perfect the product before putting it in front of anyone. I spent too long polishing features instead of marketing. A good product is only a good product if people actually see it. This project taught me to think more like a product engineer — shipping, validating, and iterating — rather than endlessly refining code no one was using yet.
